Pinning Ceremony

Monday, May 2, 2011

So yesterday was the College of Nursing Pinning Ceremony for the graduating class of 2011. It was a very nice event and we were at a good table. In our previous experiences with assigned seating (at engineering award banquets) we always felt awkward and had little to talk about, luckily that was not the case yesterday. The various personality types that are drawn to different majors is very funny to me. Anyway, we had a good lunch, listened to some awesome student speeches and were pinned. Apparently getting pinned is a very big honor in the nursing world and a pin from your Alma Mater is something you should always wear proudly wherever you work. I don't really know if that is the case these days... I rarely saw any nurses during clinicals wearing their pins. Either way, it was nice to be recognized for all of our hard work and accomplishments. They also handed out the cords we will be wearing at graduation.

I had no idea what to wear to the pinning ceremony. For some reason I didn't feel like going out and finding a new outfit for the ceremony... probably because I was too busy studying for finals. Eventually, I decided on a dress from Kohls that I have had for years. I paired it with a green cardigan and some brown pumps. It ended up being just right. Although I do think that my hubby was better dressed than I was that day.

Isn't he handsome?

I had a mental health exam today and am now officially done with that class! Only one exam left and then graduation! I can't decide what to wear to graduation. The weather isn't going to be that great but it is an indoor ceremony. I am debating between a dress (either the one from my bridal shower or Easter) or this new awesome pencil skirt I got. Since I am going to have a huge gown over me I guess it doesn't matter that much. I must say, I am loving all of these reasons to dress up!

So what do you think, dress or pencil skirt for graduation?
